Me playing the Lyre... such as it is!

Please excuse all mistakes, and especially me forgetting the lyrics.  I wrote the bloody song myself, and have played it at least once nearly every day for weeks, and I still forget.  Lyme brain!  I can remember things better than I used to, but am still far from the top of my game, it seems.  :)

It also cuts off before the end of the last chorus.  I reached the limits of my elderly camera's memory card at that point!

I don't think of myself as a musician, just someone who likes to play at music, and I wouldn't normally put myself out there doing it, but there has been a lot of interest in this beautiful Anglo-Saxon Lyre that my Andyroo so kindly made for me, and now you can hear me playing it.

I hope it encourages more people to pick up an instrument, any instrument, and to have some fun. That's what it should be about, and music shouldn't be confined to the province of the professionals only. Anyone can learn enough to have fun and it is one of the things we can do that makes humanity worth it, if you know what I mean.  :)

With all that in mind, enjoy!

The last version of the chorus that got cut off is:

"Odin the wise
Steady in comfort
Generous with pride
Asking of each of the Daughters of Odin
That little more
Which they learn
They can find. "

And then there's a nice little twiddly bit to end it that you'll have to take my word for.  :)

Thinking back, the one I did outside where Tuppence came between me and the camera and ate grass for most of it might have been better!   :D

  1. Lovely, Tina. I do believe that's the first time I've heard you sing without other voices.
I'd like to hear that again but without missing the twiddly bit at the end. 😊

    1. Thanks Gav! I don't have the voice I once had and I get a bit breathless at times, but it is what it is. I'll crank up Garageband and do a recording and see how that comes out. Then you can hear the twiddly bit. :)

  2. Very nice, I like it! You're definitely a multi-talented gal. I play a little bit of piano, but don't play often so I've lost a lot. Took a few guitar lessons, but that didn't stick. I do sing in my car though...lots! :)

Thank you so much for your kind comments about Eags! I can't hardly wait to ride that horse!!

    1. It's frustrating and discouraging to go backwards. I've done that with tin whistle badly, so with guitar I try to keep playing often enough not to forget stuff. Going to be tricky with the lyre since i haven't worked out a shonky way to notate it yet so I'll have to play my whole repertoire all the time. Not a problem yet, since I only have one and a half songs so far. :)
